Welcome to Wānaka: Passersby Discover Our Lavender Farm

visitor having fun in a field of lavender

As a traveller making your way around New Zealand, you may be surprised to stumble upon our lavender farm. Nestled just off the main road a few minutes before arriving at your destination, the wondrous lakeside town of Wānaka, our rows of purple hues certainly catches the eye.

So imagine this: you're singing out your favourite tunes with your road trip buddy excited to be seeing a new part of the country. An incredible scene unfolds; giant mountains all around, green lush fields, and a glistening lake in the distance. About five minutes ahead of your arrival to the town, there's a turn off from the highway that leads to a colourful farm blanketed with all sorts of flora. It compels you to slow down and invites you in. Down the driveway, you pass resident animals, lavender bushes and blossom trees.

After parking the car and heading into the farm shop, the potent sweet scent hits your nose and you become eager to experience lavender in all its glory. There are bunches of dried flowers hanging from the ceiling, farm-made products begging you to try them out, a honey tasting section that calls out to be sampled, teas and treats and ice cream being enjoyed by other guests, and a door that leads outside into the farm itself.

What will you discover on your day at Wānaka Lavender Farm?

One of our favourite things about the farm is its ever-changing displays and ability to offer a unique experience to each guest. Spring's joyful tulips and newborn lambs, summer's purple lavender haze and a burst of blooms, and autumn's striking red and orange trees and flowers. Even winter has its own kind of beauty with the snow capped mountains standing proud in the background!

The continuous changes to the landscape and activities being available year-round means that whether you happen upon Wānaka Lavender Farm mid-winter or during the peak season in summer you're sure to see something magical.

A restful break

For those weary souls who need refreshments after a day on the road, our farm offers the opportunity for solace and a time to recharge with a tea garden and tearoom that exudes calming energy. There is nothing sweeter than the taste of a farm-made treat accompanied by a steaming teapot full of lavender tea after a long drive.

And the cherry on top is the range of honeys available for you to taste, including our unique lavender honey harvested right here on the farm!

You may not have the energy to go outside but that doesn't mean the outside and nature's bounty can't come to you.

Stretch your legs

For passersby who are feeling a little more lively, a walk outside to stretch your legs and let loose will be just what you're after. Take a moment to immerse in nature before heading back into the urban scene.

Not only do we have various gardens to appreciate but we also have adorable animal friends to say hi to and a range of games to get stuck into. There is no age limit on the fun to be had!
