You may be wondering what being an animal that resides at a lavender farm entails. Well, there's a lot of eating, napping, showing off, eating some more, helping out when needed, looking cute, posing for photos ...and being cheeky, of course!
We've previously written a profile on our animals so that you can get to know them better. Since the animals of Wānaka Lavender Farm are the life of the party and valued members of the team, we love sharing more about them and their personalities. Especially when they pull faces like this:
And yes, the goats try harder than anyone to be the stars of the show!
Throughout winter, when the flowers are all in a slumber, these individual characters are the main focus of our guests' attention, and they do well to make everyone fall in love with them. The mini horses may pester you for some hay, the goats may beg for some pets, and the alpacas may pretend to be spitters just to get a reaction (only when they're feeling naughty! They usually leave the actual spitting to their cousins, the llamas).
At Wānaka Lavender Farm, the animals that join us come here to enjoy a full life, or to retire from their original farms. They graze on fresh grass and regenerative crops throughout the summer seasons and are given hay and feed during the winter months.
As Springtime is right around the corner, we're excited to welcome our newest furry friends to the farm, Angel and Hope. These adorable wee lambs are only a few weeks old and happy to be looked after by Bria the gardener and her little helper, Crosby Zeestraten, owners Tim and Jessica's son.
Saying hello to passing guests and being playful with humans is something that makes our furry friends' day, so be sure to stop by and see them next time you're in Wānaka!
