When is the best time of year to visit?
The lavender blooming season is Summer, which is December, January and February in New Zealand. This means that if you come during these months, you are guaranteed to see beautiful, purple rows of lavender
However, Wānaka Lavender Farm is open all year round and has plenty to see and do even when lavender isn’t flowering
Can I walk to you from Wānaka?
Wānaka Lavender Farm is located a few kilometers outside of Wānaka, along the state highway, so it’s not advisable to walk. Driving here will only take 4 or 5 minutes from the town centre
Taxi services are also available in Wānaka to bring you over to see us
Are Dogs Allowed?
As we are a working farm, only guide dogs and aid dogs are permitted on the farm, in the tearoom and shop area. This ensures that our resident animals, gardeners and farm workers aren’t disturbed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause
Is Wānaka Lavender Farm wheelchair friendly?
We have a reserved parking space close to the entrance for wheelchair users, and doors that open wide enough to allow for chairs to enter the shop and tearoom
Please keep in mind that the farm is all grass, and that though it is mostly flat and accessible, there are some dips in certain areas
Can I pick my own lavender?
As we use all of our lavender harvest to make our oils and handmade products, we don’t have a pick-your-own service to offer at the moment
Can I try your lavender products?
Of course! Testers for our lovely lavender skincare, creams and oils are all available to try in our farm shop. We encourage every guest to immerse themselves in the experience whilst visiting Wānaka Lavender Farm
Will you have honey tasting when I visit?
Our honey tasting area is a permanent feature in our tearoom and will be ready for you when you visit!
Can I bring a picnic?
Unfortunately, Wānaka Lavender Farm is not able to permit BYO picnics at this time, however we do offer a new Picnic Experience that you can enjoy. More details HERE and there are always our selection of teas, treats, ice creams and cold drinks available at our tearoom, and water is always readily available to our guests.
Are there bees on the farm?
Our busy bees are content meandering from flower to flower during the summer months, collecting nectar and making our lovely lavender honey. They usually don’t bother guests, as long as they are left alone. Please wear shoes when visiting our farm as bees are sometimes in the clover among the grass paths
Can we feed the animals?
Yes - in Winter, when the animals don’t have fresh grass to enjoy, we offer guests a fun experience of feeding our alpacas and sheep
Is there anything for children?
Yes! We pride ourselves on being a fun place for kids of all ages. From satisfying their sweet tooth with a honey tasting, to playing the giant games featured around the farm, to interacting with our resident animals, there is a lot of sensory activity for the wee ones
We also offer a Lavender Scavenger that involves a prize for taking part
Do you have deals for locals?
Our annual pass is a great way for locals to visit the farm often without paying every time. It is $40 for an adult for unlimited entry to the farm from January - December, and $20 for children. Available on request
